Assistant Professor of Contemporary Art History and Theory
Dr. Cristina Albu’s research focuses on crossovers between contemporary art, science, and technology. Her recently published book Mirror Affect (Minnesota University Press, 2016) explores contemporary artists’ use of reflective and responsive interfaces to catalyze interpersonal awareness. Dr. Albu has also authored an article on “Science and Contemporary Art” in Oxford Bibliographies (2016). She is currently conducting research on the aesthetics of biofeedback and the entanglement of biological and social systems. Together with Dawna Schuld (Texas A&M University), she is co-editing a volume of essays titled Perception and Agency in Shared Spaces of Contemporary Art (forthcoming with Routledge in 2017).
